National Sport Academy alumni athlete, Sam Hunt, had three big goals over the weekend for the Colgate Raiders and earned herself the National Offensive Player of the Week Award.
OSTROW FEATURED IN LATEST EDITION OF "INSIDE THE BCHL"
Kyle Ostrow is off to a hot start with the Nanaimo Clippers this season and is gaining attention throughout the league. He was recently interviewed by Bernie Pascall for a BCHL video feature.
SCORING DYNAMOS
NSA hockey alumni are literally ripping it up statistically in the WHL, NCAA, and Junior A levels. As of October 20th, Zach Boychuk (Grad 2007) is the leading scorer in the WHL, Ryan Duncan is second in scoring at the University of North Dakota, and Kyle Ostrow finds himself atop the scoring leaders for the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL. Great work guys!
CARDER OFF TO A STRONG START WITH GRIZZLYS
National Sport Academy alumni, Chad Carder, has had a strong start to his AJHL career with the Olds Grizzlies. His 3-0-1 record so far along with a 1.78 GAA and .942 save percentage gave reason for praise in this week's Olds Albertan newspaper.
OSTROW NAMED TO TEAM CANADA WEST FOR WORLD JUNIOR "A" CHALLENGE
Congratulations to National Sport Academy alumni, Kyle Ostrow, who was named to the Team Canada West squad for the upcoming World Junior "A" Challenge. Kyle graduated from the National Sport Academy in 2005 and is currently leading his BCHL team, the Nanaimo Clippers, in scoring.
FARWAHA MAKES COUGARS
Congratulations to National Sport Academy alumni athlete Sonia Farwaha who made the Mount Royal Cougars soccer team. Sonia is enrolled in business and will play striker for the Cougars.
NATIONAL SPORT ACADEMY PLAYERS AND ALUMNI EXCELLING IN WHL
Presently, several current and former National Sport Academy players are excelling in the WHL. In fact, Zach Boychuk (Lethbridge Hurricanes) and Tyler Swystun (Medicine Hat Tigers) are in the top 3 in WHL scoring. They have also collected 3 game star awards. Cody Almond (Kelowna Rockets), Dana Tyrell (Prince George Cougars), Giffen Nyren (Moose Jaw Warriors), Jesse Smyke (Everett Silvertips), Andrew Pinsent (Chilliwack Bruins), Mitch McColm (Lethbridge Hurricanes), and Chris Bruton (Spokane Chiefs) are also off to good starts. Great job guys and keep up the good work!
JOHNSON PAYS HIS OWN WAY TO KEEP ELIGIBILITY
Nick Johnson, an alumni of the National Sport Academy, is currently attending the Pittsburgh Penguins training camp. Johnson is not only making a statement on the ice but off the ice as well, paying his own expenses to attend the camp. Johnson has two years of elibibilty at Dartmouth College remaining and cannot receive any compensation if he wishes to keep amateur status.
OSTROW OFF TO SIZZLING START
National Sport Academy Hockey alumni member, Kyle Ostrow, is off to a strong start in the BCHL. Ostrow, a sophomore with the Nanaimo Clippers, is scheduled to move on to play for the University of Denver Pioneers next season.
LECLAIR COMMITS TO WILFRED LAURIER
National Sport Academy alumni student athlete, Mike LeClair, has committed to attend Wilfred Laurier University for the 2006/2007 season. LeClair is moving on from the Olds Grizzlies, who he played for last season.
IRANI TO ATTEND ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
2006 National Sport Academy graduate, Shireen Irani, will be attending the Rochester Institute of Technology, starting in September. Congratulations, Shireen!
BRENNA McLEAN NAMED ECAC ALL-ACADEMIC AT HARVARD:
Congratulations to National Sport Academy alumni athlete, Brenna McLean, who was selected to the 2006 ECAC All-Academic Team.
SARAH DANIEL NAMED AN ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN:
Congratulations to National Sport Academy alumni athlete, Sarah Daniel, who was selected to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine National Academic All-America Women's University Division At-Large Third Team.
KNIGHT TAKES 2ND SPOT AT WOLVERTON ALBERTA OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to Michael Knight on his second place finish at the 2006 Wolverton Alberta Open Championship. The 2005 Mississippi State Bulldog and former National Sport Academy student athlete finished one shot back of the winner, after shooting a final round 65.
Ellams to play for Trojans:
Congratulations to National Sport Academy alumni athlete, Jordan Ellams, who has accepted a scholarship to SAIT for the 2006/2007 season. Ellams played for the Chilliwack Chiefs in the 2005/2006 season.
NSA Alumni win awards on Clippers:
Congratulations to National Sport Academy alumni members KYLE OSTROW and TAYLOR REID who won team awards on the Nanaimo Clippers Junior "A" hockey team. KYLE won the Jason Gow Memorial (Most Exciting Player) and Taylor won Most Valuable Defenseman.

Congratulations to National Sport Academy alumni Dana Tyrell who was named the Prince George Cougar's Rookie of the Year and Scholastic Player of the Year, as chosen by the team's coaching staff.
GOULET AND SAIT WIN ACAC
Congratulations to National Sport Academy Alumni Nicole Goulet who is a member of the 2005/2006 ACAC Champion SAIT Trojans. Nicole was also named to the ACAC All-Conference Women's Hockey Team.

Congratulations to National Sport Academy Alumni SAM HUNT who was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team. Sam played for the Colgate women's hockey team this season and finished first on the team in scoring.
BERRY WINS STEWY STEWART AWARD:
Congratulations to former National Sport Academy student athlete Chris Berry who won the Stewy Stewart Award. The award is given out annually to the player who best exhibits Character, Dedication, Perseverance, Integrity and Sportsmanship in the AJHL.
