OSTROW AND MACWILLIAM WIN AJHL CHAMPIONSHIP

Shawn Ostrow, Andrew MacWilliam, and the rest of the Camrose Kodiaks will now play Penticton for the Doyle Cup for a chance to move on to the Royal Bank Cup, the national championship for Junior Tier 2 hockey. Shawn and Andrew will return to the National Sport Academy at Central Memorial High School once their season is completed. More Info

Ismond Top Goalie in VIJHL

National Sport Academy alumni athlete, Scott Ismond, was the top goaltender through the VIJHL regular season. Ismond posted the second lowest all-time goals against average in the VIJHL dating back to 1975. He played 1648 minutes in 27.47 games, only allowing 61 goals on 729 shots for a 91.63 save percentage...read more

Male Alumni Move on to NCAA

NSA Alumni, Shawn Ostrow, has committed to the University of Denver, and will be joining his brother and NSA Graduate, Kyle Ostrow. He will be competing against Taylor Reid (Union), Andrew Macwilliam (North Dakota), and Jack MacLellan(Brown), who also recently committed to NCAA scholarships. National Sport Academy alumni athlete, Sam Hunt, scored with three seconds remaining in overtime to give the Canadian Women's Under 22 team the win over the United States...read more

TEAM ALBERTA UNDER 18 FEMALES

Congratulations to National Sport Academy female hockey athletes Julie Johnson, Erin Lally, Alana McElhinney, Charissa Stadnyk, and Carly Warren who were named to Hockey Alberta's Under 18 team. The team will travel to a tournament in Japan this summer before representing Alberta in Kitchener, Ontario in November at the Under 18 Women's National Championship.

TEAM ALBERTA UNDER 17 MALES

Dylan Olsen and Jonathan Petrash have been selected amongst the Top 46 Under 17 players for Team Alberta. Between July 10th and 15th, they will be competing for a spot on Team Pacific, which will play at the World Under 17 IIHF hockey tournament next winter. Congratulations to both athletes and good luck.

SCORING DYNAMOS

NSA hockey alumni are literally ripping it up statistically in the WHL, NCAA, and Junior A levels. As of October 20th, Zach Boychuk (Grad 2007) is the leading scorer in the WHL, Ryan Duncan is second in scoring at the University of North Dakota, and Kyle Ostrow finds himself atop the scoring leaders for the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL. Great work guys!

CARDER OFF TO A STRONG START WITH GRIZZLYS

National Sport Academy alumni, Chad Carder, has had a strong start to his AJHL career with the Olds Grizzlies. His 3-0-1 record so far along with a 1.78 GAA and .942 save percentage gave reason for praise in this week's Olds Albertan newspaper.

OSTROW NAMED TO TEAM CANADA WEST FOR WORLD JUNIOR "A" CHALLENGE

Congratulations to National Sport Academy alumni, Kyle Ostrow, who was named to the Team Canada West squad for the upcoming World Junior "A" Challenge. Kyle graduated from the National Sport Academy in 2005 and is currently leading his BCHL team, the Nanaimo Clippers, in scoring.

NATIONAL SPORT ACADEMY PLAYERS AND ALUMNI EXCELLING IN WHL

Presently, several current and former National Sport Academy players are excelling in the WHL. In fact, Zach Boychuk (Lethbridge Hurricanes) and Tyler Swystun (Medicine Hat Tigers) are in the top 3 in WHL scoring. They have also collected 3 game star awards. Cody Almond (Kelowna Rockets), Dana Tyrell (Prince George Cougars), Giffen Nyren (Moose Jaw Warriors), Jesse Smyke (Everett Silvertips), Andrew Pinsent (Chilliwack Bruins), Mitch McColm (Lethbridge Hurricanes), and Chris Bruton (Spokane Chiefs) are also off to good starts. Great job guys and keep up the good work!

JOHNSON PAYS HIS OWN WAY TO KEEP ELIGIBILITY

Nick Johnson, an alumni of the National Sport Academy, is currently attending the Pittsburgh Penguins training camp. Johnson is not only making a statement on the ice but off the ice as well, paying his own expenses to attend the camp. Johnson has two years of elibibilty at Dartmouth College remaining and cannot receive any compensation if he wishes to keep amateur status.

OSTROW OFF TO SIZZLING START

National Sport Academy Hockey alumni member, Kyle Ostrow, is off to a strong start in the BCHL. Ostrow, a sophomore with the Nanaimo Clippers, is scheduled to move on to play for the University of Denver Pioneers next season.

PERFECT MATH SCORE FOR McGHEE

Congratulations to National Sport Academy student athlete Bryden McGhee who receieved a 100% grade on his Math 30 diploma exam. Bryden is in the National Sport Academy hockey program and played the 2005 / 2006 season with the NWCAA Midget AAA Flames.

LECLAIR COMMITS TO WILFRED LAURIER

National Sport Academy alumni student athlete, Mike LeClair, has committed to attend Wilfred Laurier University for the 2006/2007 season. LeClair is moving on from the Olds Grizzlies, who he played for last season.

BOYCHUK WINS JUNIOR WORLD CUP

National Sport Academy student athlete Zach Boychuk is a member of the 2006 Team Canada Under 18 squad who won the Junior World Cup in Slovakia. Congratulations and good luck with your upcoming season, Zach!

IRANI TO ATTEND ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

2006 National Sport Academy graduate, Shireen Irani, will be attending the Rochester Institute of Technology, starting in September. Congratulations, Shireen!
