Miki Kawahara

Miki graduated with his degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia. While in college he was an academic all-Canadian playing for the Douglas College Royals (NWAACC) and the UBC Thunderbirds (NAIA). After finishing his playing career, Miki remained in British Columbia until 2007. During that time he helped coach the Coquitlam Red Legs to back-to-back regional championships in the BC Junior Premier Baseball League. Over the past 5 years Miki has coached at the 2007 BC Provincial Camp, 2008 & 2009 Alberta Spring Training, 2008 & 2009 Canada Cup (Team Alberta 17U), and the 2008 & 2009 Alberta Prospects (Head Coach). Since moving to Calgary in 2007 Miki has developed his baseball education company, Diamondawgs Baseball, and has done work with Baseball Calgary and Babe Ruth Calgary. His international experience includes playing in Japan and Australia as well as coaching in Venezuela in 2010. A level 3 baseball coach with the NCCP, Miki is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (NSCA), and a Sport Conditioning Specialist (TCI).
For 7 years Miki was a senior strength coach and manager of baseball conditioning for Twist Conditioning Inc (TCI). During that time he built the baseball conditioning program to include amateur and professional players including AL MVP Justin Morneau. Now living in Calgary, Miki has remained a Master Coach for TCI while continuing his work as a baseball strength and conditioning specialist. Miki has worked with hundreds of athletes from youth to professional including players from Major League Baseball, the Junior National Baseball Team, the Japanese Professional League, the Venezuelan National Softball Team, the National Hockey League, the German Elite Hockey League, and Women's National Soccer Team.
Miki has had two baseball conditioning articles published in the last 5 years and has presented at coaching clinics and strength and conditioning conferences on numerous topics in both Canada and the US.
